Looking to Do Some Local History Research?

The museum staff is always available (by appointment) to help you uncover information about this region’s past. In cooperation with the Silver City Public Library, the Silver City Museum offers help to researchers. Many useful and important historical documents and resources are housed at the Silver City Public Library. They include: 

  • Books and periodicals
  • Vertical files containing biographical and historical topics
  • Silver City newspapers card file index (1873 to 1886) and Silver City newspapers on microfilm (1873 to 1943)
  • Newspaper citations (into the 1920s)
  • Telephone and city directories 
  • Other local records
