  1. Bilingual Storytime: Bowwow Powwow with Kim & Nena

    October 18, 2020, 7:00 PM @ https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_ksvouKZ_Tjid9pKt8o1-Tw

A gloriously vivid story of an imagined powwow where all the dancers are dogs, read in English and Spanish by local pizzeria owner Kim Klassen and noted phychic investigator and healer Nena Benavidez. Windy Girl is blessed with a vivid imagination. From Uncle she gathers stories of long-ago traditions. Windy can tell such stories herself–about her dog, Itchy Boy, and the way he dances to request a treat and how he wriggles with joy. Uncle, Windy Girl, and Itchy Boy attend a powwow. Windy watches the dancers, listens to the singers, eats tasty food and gathers around the campfire. She falls asleep and dreams that all the dancers are dogs. In these magical scenes, Windy sees veterans in a Grand Entry, a visiting drum group, grass dancers, jingle-dress dancers–all with ears and paws and tails. This playful story by Brenda Child is brought to life by Jonathan Thunder's vibrant dreamscapes. The result is a powwow tale for the ages.
